SIXTEEN Footers took part in the Glen Clova Half Marathon on Saturday when great results were attained on a wet and windy day. Ruairidh Campbell, back from a long lay-off with injury, ran well coming home in a time of 1.20.58. Marion Wood was first lady home in 1.26.10. George Young and Paula Brown won their respective Club Championships Sunday at the Cumberland Country Club. It was the sixth Men's Club Championship for Young, who played steady golf throughout the 54-hole event. It was the 15th Women's Club Championship for Brown, her first having come in 1979. Young won the men's title with a score of 220, with Jim Snodgrass runner-up at 223.

SPALDING Golf Club's ladies have been crowned county scratch team champions. The terrific trio of Frances Dalton, skipper Elaine Hancock and Dianne Platt clinched the crown by seeing off Lincoln GC 2-1. Playing some superb golf, Dalton took her clash 3&2, while Hancock came through 2up. but it mattered little.

Ten years later, Ramona Shelley still misses her home on Springfield Road. "I used to love cooking in my kitchen, and watching the Darby Creek out the window while I was cooking," she said. "It's just not the same now." That kitchen, along with Shelley's entire house, is gone now, lost to that same creek when it overflowed its banks as Hurricane Floyd struck Delaware County 10 years ago this week.
